I would like to try a raw food detox diet for a few weeks as I have read that it can be very helpful at bringing energy levels up, particularly if you might have some thyroid issues. It involves eating a lot of fruits and uncooked vegetables, nuts and seeds, and some lean meat. However, even choosing fruits and veggies low on the Glycemic index still results in a daily carb intake of over 80g. Would it be ok to follow this diet for awhile, especially since my carb intake on this diet would still be lower than my daily carb intake at the moment. I work out the carb intake to be about 140g daily on the diet. I am hoping it might improve my energy and sense of well being as well as lower my cravings for carbohydrates like breads and sweets. The meal plan consists of fruit and nuts for breakfast, large veggie salad with many different veggies, seeds, and olive oil for lunch, raw veggie salad, steamed veggies and seared tuna steak for dinner, and snacks of hummus and veggies, or nut butter and fruit/veggies.
Dear friend,

Thanks so much for writing in with your question. I'm excited to hear that you have started the System!

We have found that a higher protein/lower carb diet works best with the Insulite System. If you are having huge drops in energy following meals, this may be caused by hypoglycemia. Typically, hypoglycemic symptoms are treated by eating protein-rich, low carb meals. The diet you outlined above looks pretty good. I like the nuts/seeds, vegetables, tuna and olive oil. According to the foods above, the carb count still seems pretty low.

I hope this is helpful!
