The first query that may be typically asked is whether or not coconut oil is healthy to use. Producers of other oils have long attempted to smear coconut oil as a bad oil since it's mainly made-up of saturated fats. Aren't those the poor fats? In many cases they're, but within the case of coconut oil their makeup is very several from many other oils. Coconut oil is mainly comprised of medium chain fatty acids which are healthful. Most other saturated fats can't say this. The stableness saturated fats helps make sure that coconut oil will not break down into trans fatty acids and free radicals when subjected to to higher temps.

Amy,
Thanks for your reply. I actually started out with 2 tsp. acv with honey and thought it was actually quite good. The 2 tbsp. however was a different story. I think I will go back to less. I also had started the virgin coconut oil at the same time. I haven't noticed a huge transformation although I am seeing subtle changes in how I feel and energy levels. I really appreciate being able to find articles like yours on the internet. I feel like we have to really treat ourselves with these syndromes as the docs don't seem interested in any natural treatments or determining root causes of the issue, such as malabsorption or otherwise. I haven't done this much research since college. I also went gluten free last year which has helped quite a bit. Anyway, thanks again for your article and quick response.

Hi Donna-
I actually have reduced the amount of vinegar to 2tsp with 16oz of water and I drink that before meals without honey. I think I get the same benefit with less vinegar. Believe it or not when I put plenty of ice in the cup it is actually like drinking lemon water. Apple cider vinegar also helps balance PH and helps fight colds/flu. With your hashimotos you should also consider taking a few tablespoons of virgin coconut oil. It will help with your thyroid and it also helps with blood sugar.

If you are not taking Insulite already I strongly suggest trying it. Especially since you are not taking metformin. I find that the varied herbs & minerals in Insulite really helps control my blood sugar and has reduced testosterone levels.

I stopped taking metformin and started using acv(braggs) two weeks ago. I have been diagnosed with hashimotos and pcos among other things. I have been using 2 tsp before meals mixed with honey and water. I have been confused on the amt to drink. Are you still taking 2 tablespoons before each meal? Are you still doing well on it? Thanks so much.
